Scott Cassel is the Executive Director of the Product Stewardship Institute (PSI), which pursues initiatives to ensure that all those involved in the lifecycle of a product share responsibility for reducing its health and environmental impacts. Prior to founding the Institute in 2000, Scott served seven years as the Director of Waste Policy and Planning for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs. He is a founding Board Member and past-President of the North American Hazardous Materials Management Association, whose mission is to reduce the toxicity of the municipal waste stream. He is also a founding Board Member of the Global Product Stewardship Council, which harmonizes product stewardship programs internationally. Scott has worked on product and waste management issues for the past 25 years, for a start-up solid waste management company, a non-profit statewide environmental group, and several other government agencies, including the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority. He is author of a comprehensive book chapter on product stewardship in the 2008 Handbook on Household Hazardous Waste. He was also a syndicated newspaper columnist in Massachusetts, including the Boston Business Journal. Scott has a master's degree in environmental policy and dispute resolution from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an undergraduate degree in Geology and Environmental Studies from the University of Pennsylvania.

Sierra Fletcher is Director for Policy and Programs at Product Stewardship Institute (PSI). She works on PSI’s product and policy initiatives, as well as supporting groups of local governments and others developing and pursuing product stewardship initiatives in their states. Prior to coming to PSI, Sierra worked for 10 years on environmental and consensus-building efforts with diverse stakeholder groups in Alaska, Cambodia, the Middle East, and New England. Sierra has a master’s degree in environmental policy and conflict resolution from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and an undergraduate degree from Yale University.

Jennifer Sweatt is the Business Manager for the Product Stewardship Institute. She has over 15 years of experience in finance, administration and in managing small to medium-sized businesses. She was the co-founder of AICS, a local Internet access company in the mid to late 1990’s, and has also worked in the hardware engineering and medical devices industries. She has spent countless hours volunteering for organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and her local library, and is a proud Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters. She is an avid reader and enjoys spending time on the seacoast and walking her dogs. She received her MBA from Norwich University and her undergraduate degree from Bentley College.

Lisa Gould, Executive Assistant at Product Stewardship Institute, has over 20 years of administrative experience at non-profits in the Boston area including Harvard University, Radcliffe Institute of Advanced Study, MIT, the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee and the Executive Service Corps of New England. As a meeting planner, she has organized numerous volunteer workshops, educational seminars, and conferences. Prior to that, Lisa worked in the financial and investment fields at State Street Global Advisors and The Scudder Family of Funds.

David Boucher has been an Intern at the Product Stewardship Institute for nearly two years, where he provides research and administrative assistance on many projects undertaken by the PSI staff. Having grown up in the Greater Boston area, David spent his high-school years working part-time with an organization promoting sustainable agriculture and food security. In spring 2009, he graduated from Tufts University with undergraduate degrees in Environmental Science and Spanish.

Kate recently graduated from Yale University with a degree in history, and started as an Intern at the Product Stewardship Institute in February 2010. Kate is an avid sailor and was the captain of the Women’s Varsity Sailing Team. At Yale, Kate studied environmental history, policy, politics and law, and global climate change. Prior to her internship at PSI, Kate studied organic farming in rural India.
Mike Younis recently graduated the Boston University School of Management cum laude with a degree in Business Administration. Mike concentrated in Finance and Corporate Law and holds a minor in Environmental Analysis and Policy. While studying abroad at the University of Auckland, Mike interned for Oxfam New Zealand researching climate change and working with all functions of human resources. Mike also works as a rock climbing instructor and enjoys the outdoors.
Caitlin recently graduated from Northeastern University with a Master’s of Public Administration. As a Graduate Research Assistant for the Nanotechnology & Society Research Group, Caitlin focused on state and local government capacity to regulate new technologies. In 2009 she worked with the Massachusetts Office of Technical Assistance and Technology as well as the Massachusetts Interagency Nanotechnology Committee. Caitlin graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2008 with a degree in Political Science. While at Michigan, Caitlin was a member of the Women’s Varsity Rowing team and she is now an avid runner and cyclist.
