DEA Collection Location Search Tool

By entering your zip code in the search field of this federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) search tool, you can find all authorized collector locations (chain and independent retail pharmacies, hospitals and clinics with on-site pharmacies, etc.) that can collect controlled substances.

  • Law enforcement locations (e.g., police departments, sheriff offices) are not included in this search.
  • Pharmacies and other authorized locations collecting only non-controlled substances may not be included in this search.

AWARxE’s Drug Disposal Locator Tool lists law enforcement locations that host permanent drug take-back receptacles. AWARxE is an online resource run by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) Foundation that provides information about medicine safety, prescription drug abuse, medication disposal, and safe purchase of medications online.

After identifying nearby drug take-back programs using any of the tools above, residents should contact their local collection site before visiting to confirm its drug take-back program is active and for hours of operation.
