Textiles make up one of the fastest growing waste streams in the world. On average, Americans throw away 70 lbs. of clothing per year, creating 3.8 billion pounds of unnecessary waste that gets dumped in our landfills. But textiles are one of the most reusable and highly recyclable products around. Used textiles create markets for a number of products and services, including second-hand retail; high quality paper; seat stuffing and upholstery; and insulation and building materials. This webinar will provide an overview of the textile recycling marketplace and industry, explain what textile recycling entails, explore the current state of municipal textile recycling in the U.S., and discuss how the apparel industry can play an important role in textiles recycling.(90 min.)
