Tires Stewardship Dialogue Meeting
January 21 + 22, 2015
Of the 300 million scrap tires generated each year in the U.S., markets exist for approximately 85%. The rest are a bulky nuissance in landfills or, when disposed improperly, create environmental threats and serious health hazards. Meanwhile, scrap tire management fees that helped to reduce tire stockpiles to one-tenth of their 1990's volume are due to sunset soon in many states, causing concern over future funding for tire cleanup efforts. Join PSI and the CT DEEP as we explore current regional and national issues affecting tire recycling and how tire stewardship policy could play a role in resolving those issues.
