Pharmaceutical Waste Stewardship Summit

The 2013 Pharmaceutical Waste Stewardship Summit convened experts from the Great Lakes region and around the country on a range of topics, including:

  • An assessment of pharmaceutical take-back programs in the Great Lakes states;
  • Stakeholder roles and responsibilities in developing comprehensive pharmaceutical take-back solutions, and how these might change under the proposed DEA rule;
  • Producer responsibility approaches at the local, state, and federal levels; and
  • Steps needed to create more and improved pharmaceutical take-back program

This one-day Summit featured interactive discussions and excellent networking opportunities. The event was supported by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (Region 5) as part of its Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. If you were there, thank you for joining us!

River Cruise Reception

We held a complimentary river cruise reception immediately following the Summit on June 11. The river cruise, provided by Milwaukee Boat Line, occurred from 5pm - 7pm. Light hors d'oeuvres were served and a cash bar was available. The dock/boat launch was located a few short blocks from the meeting venue at 101 W Michigan Street in Milwaukee.


A block of 25 rooms was reserved at the Ramada Milwaukee City Centre for Monday, June 10 & Tuesday, June 11 at the Wisconsin state rate of $80.00 per night. This hotel offered free parking and was located 3 blocks from the conference site.
