Sydney brings a unique blend of research, facilitation and advocacy  experience to PSI’s policy team. She supports program and policy development, analysis and outreach in several product categories including packaging, pharmaceuticals, textiles and more. Before joining PSI, Sydney spent four years in Seattle working on Puget Sound policy at an environmental nonprofit and completing a research fellowship with the US EPA’s ocean pollution and Trash Free Waters programs. Sydney is passionate about social and environmental justice, and has also held many youth advocacy and education positions. Her research background began in physics, evolved into marine bioacoustics followed by marine conservation, and eventually led her all the way upstream to producer responsibility. She holds an M.Sc. in Marine Science from the University of Auckland and a B.A. in Physics from Oberlin College. In her spare time, she enjoys any excuse to get outdoors - especially hiking, camping, scuba diving and kayaking.
