What’s next for the state-by-state movement towards product stewardship for paint?
In just six years, eight states and the District of Columbia have successfully proposed and enacted paint stewardship legislation, creating an industry-run system to ensure the reuse, recycling, and safe disposal of leftover paint. As the American Coatings Association (ACA), PaintCare, PSI and other stakeholders work to extend the benefits of paint stewardship legislation to other states across the country, what lessons can we learn from the paint stewardship programs already in place?
For those who are new to this movement, as well as veterans looking for a deep dive into the legislative process, program implementation and other key issues in paint stewardship, the Product Stewardship Institute (PSI) and PaintCare are pleased to announce two free webinars this May on paint stewardship. Join Marjaneh Zarrehparvar, Executive Director of PaintCare, Alison Keane, Vice President of the American Coatings Association, and Scott Cassel and Sydney Hausman-Cohen of the Product Stewardship Institute, at one or both of these national events.
Advanced Paint Stewardship, Thursday May 21, 2015 (2:00-3:30 pm EDT)
For those that are already familiar with the paint stewardship movement, this webinar will provide an update on program roll-out, legislative developments, and key challenges and solutions. Specific topics discussed will include:
- consumer convenience and program coverage,
- PaintCare collection contracts with local governments,
- regulatory changes to support retail paint collection and interstate transport
- transparency (annual reporting and auditing),
- paint management and the waste management hierarchy,
- legislative updates, and more.
