Best Practices for Running a Pharmacy-Based Drug Take-Back Program

Wednesday, September 21, 2016 (1:00 pm -2:30 pm EST)

Pharmacies can play an important role in providing their communities access to convenient drug take-back programs, particularly in rural areas. Not only do drug take-back programs provide an easy, safe, and effective way to reduce the public health and environmental impacts of leftover drugs, they also benefit pharmacies through increased foot traffic and customer loyalty. This webinar will walk attendees through best practices for setting up and implementing a drug take-back program at retail pharmacies and hospital pharmacies informed by a year-long pilot project in rural New York. Our knowledgeable pharmacists will discuss their experience with meeting the regulatory requirements to launch a program; how to set up a collection kiosk; the most effective outreach strategies for reaching residents in rural communities; and other key tips for running a successful drug take-back program.
